Did you know chiropractic treatment can help these illnesses?

While back aches, whiplash injuries and stiff necks may top the list, chiropractic care treats many issues that may amaze you.

Chiropractors focus on conditions related to your body’s structure. When your entire body is in proper alignment – not just those parts related to your neck and spine – you have a better chance of overall improved health.

If this surprises you, you’re not alone, but you may be missing out. Here’s look at six conditions that a chiropractor can treat:

  1. Plantar Fasciitis: This condition involves the inflammation or irritation of the thin tissue present at the bottom of the foot. The symptoms include pain in the heels while walking associated with swelling and numbness. A chiropractor can relieve this pain through soft tissue therapy, custom orthotics, and restoration of proper biomechanics.
  2. Migraines and tension headaches: When experiencing severe headache pain, it could indicate excessive strain on the nervous system. A chiropractor treats these issues by relieving the pressure on your nerves.
  3. Easier pregnancy and shorter labor: Before delivery, pregnant women receiving regular chiropractic care report less back pain, heartburn, and circulation problems.
  4. Fibromyalgia: This is a condition characterized by persistent musculoskeletal pain and other symptoms such as problems with sleep, mood, and memory. Chiropractic treatment aims at improving circulation and restoration of skeletal alignment and functions of the nervous system.
  5. Hip Bursitis: The condition is caused by an inflammation of the fluid-filled sac that lies below the hip muscle. The main symptom is a pain at the point of the hip that extends to the outside of the thigh area. With proper chiropractic care, patients respond well to regular treatment.
  6. Weak immune systems: Chiropractic care detects and eliminates subluxation, which is the physical nerve stress that affects neuronal control. Studies show that chiropractic adjustments can reduce the stress, thereby boosting the coordinated responses of the nervous and immune systems.

Regular chiropractic care can reduce or eliminate the source of many issues, allowing you to resume your normal life activities. If you need a chiropractic appointment, contact our clinic in Clinton, Md.

Take a Stand Against Leg Pain with Chiropractic Care

Leg pain can stop you in your tracks. Dealing with this pain is not only annoying, but also stressful. You use your legs in everything you do. The health of your legs is critical to how you move and live your life. Whether it is for your job, working out, or running family errands, you must be healthy to keep up with the fast pace of your life. Sometimes this pain can be short lived, but when your leg pain limits mobility, it’s time to take it seriously.

How does Chiropractic Treatment Help Leg Pain
Chiropractic care is rooted in the idea that manipulation of the joints and bones sets the entire healing process into motion. Although often associated with treating back pain, chiropractors can immensely help with all sorts of body ailments. Whether it’s musculoskeletal, neurological,
or vascular, they can treat and prevent pain. Through adjustment, assisting in healing, and teaching you how to prevent pain, the right chiropractor can help.

Finding the Source of Leg Pain is Key
Most knee and leg pain results from instability of the joint, tight muscles or tendons, or a soft tissue injury that has not healed properly. Chiropractic care is a proven way of reducing swelling and discomfort in the lower part of the leg. Proper adjustments of the spine and affected joints help relieve pressure, reduce restrictions and misalignments. This results in increased mobility, reduced inflammation, and an improved function of the treated joint. Sometimes, knee or leg pain is actually caused by misalignment of another part of the body, such as the spine or hips. A spinal adjustment improves the functionality of the nervous system in general, which enhances the ability of the body to manage knee, foot, and ankle pain.

See a Chiropractor for Help
It’s time to get back to living a healthy and free life. From minor to severe pain, how you move and feel depends on the strength of your legs. Chiropractic care can readjust your bones, and therefore readjust your life. If you need a chiropractic appointment, contact our clinic in Clinton, MD.

4 Tips to Keep Your Aging Spine Healthy

Getting older isn’t always bad news for your back and spine. Aging can mean different things for different people. Nowadays, it’s not uncommon to see older adults running marathons, hiking up mountains, launching a new business or even keeping up with the latest TikTok dances.

Staying active while aging is only possible if you’re healthy. A maturing body can experience increased aches, pains and joint stiffness, especially in the back or shoulders. Many of us assume this discomfort just goes with the territory. But it doesn’t have to be a natural side-effect of getting older.

Here are tips on how to keep your spine in the best possible condition:

Tip 1: Good Posture is Everything
Studies show that maintaining a strong, erect posture leads to a healthy spine. When you walk, try to keep your back in a neutral position. Avoid slouching when sitting, and maintain an ergonomic position when working on your computer. When possible, stabilize your back by tucking in your pelvis whether sitting or standing.

Tip 2: Lift with Caution
Improper lifting technique is a common cause of back injury. Whether the object is heavy or manageable, lifting with poor form can take a serious toll. Try bending at the knees, rather than the waist, when attempting to lift something.

Tip 3: Increase Strength with Exercise
When it comes to your spinal health, exercise helps your back’s ligaments and tendons remain flexible for a variety of movements. Consider adding core exercises to your routine to help improve mobility and strengthen overall spine support.

Tip 4:  Prioritize Your Overall Well Being

Chiropractic care is one of the best ways to take care of your body and promote a healthy lifestyle. Consistent treatment helps alleviate muscle tightness, improve spinal health and alignment, and address early signs of serious back issues.

Whether you’re physically active or enjoying the simple pleasures of life, your spine doesn’t have to slow you down. A healthy spine is key for maintaining a good quality of life, energy and enthusiasm. If you need a chiropractic appointment, contact our clinic in Clinton, MD.

Chiropractic Tips for Fall Season

Autumn is full of some of our favorite things. But it’s also one of the busiest times of year. In a blink of an eye, your calendar can quickly fill up with family gatherings, school functions, outdoor activities, and seasonal chores to prepare for the colder weather. It can also lead to big changes to your body and bring new physical stressors to handle. So before you jump into your fall routine, take a moment to remember your health and wellness.

Chiropractic care helps you deal with the changes brought on by this time of year. Here are some tips to prepare for the season:

  • Remember to wear supportive shoes. If you’re raking leaves, taking a walk, or shopping for groceries and gifts, wearing shoes with firm arch support should be your go-to. This can prevent future back pain.
  • Pay attention to your knees. If you’re lifting or heaving anything, bend at your knees rather than your waist or your back. This protects your spine and muscles from unnecessary strain.
  • Take supplements or vitamins to boost your immune system. Also, schedule your chiropractic visits to help your body recuperate, renew and gain strength. Spinal adjustments help keep your nerve system clear, which allows your immune system to react more efficiently against infections.
  • Reduce stress with chiropractic care. The autumn season can be very stressful. Last-minute shopping and running errands can be overwhelming, which can lead to headaches and body pain. Various techniques through chiropractic care can help minimize stress.
  • Manage any seasonal affective disorder (SAD). Less exposure to sunlight and gloomy weather can trigger SAD, which may cause you to lose interest, energy and motivation. Chiropractic adjustments can regulate your levels of melatonin and serotonin. Routine visits may help you control emotions and adjust to lifestyle changes.

For many people, fall is the best time of year. So enjoy the season by preparing for it in advance. If you need a chiropractor appointment, contact us at our clinic in Clinton, MD. We look forward to serving you.

Chiropractors: The real MVP

The fall sports season is here. Whether you actively participate or watch from the sidelines, it can cause risk to your body. With injuries ranging from aches and cramps to back pain or concussion, this can be serious. Fortunately, chiropractic care is an excellent treatment for players and spectators alike. When it comes to relieving the pain from common sports injuries, chiropractors are the real MVPs. Here’s what you need to know:

Improve joint health:
Even if you train rigorously, you still may suffer a huge blow during a game. Any serious impact can disrupt spinal alignment and restrict movement, which leads to pain and tension in the joints. With chiropractic care, your body heals faster and helps minimize future injuries.

Increase mobility:
Like many of us, your hip’s flexion/extension may not be top of mind. But hips are important for both running and/or sitting. The hip rotation is key for athletic movements like turning, twisting, crouching, and pivoting. It’s also essential when cheering, jumping or sitting for long periods of time. With regular chiropractic care, your body can either play or celebrate with increased mobility and full range of motion.

Evaluate and treat concessions:
In addition to treating head and neck injuries, chiropractors can identify the signs of a concussion. Chiropractors also provide post-concussion syndrome treatment, including migraine headaches treatment and other remedies.

Stay lubricated:
Whether you’re an athlete or a fan, you should drink plenty of water, especially during warmer climates. Proper hydration improves movement, which keeps the joints loose. Also, regular chiropractic care can help joints maintain lubrication.

Manage pain with adjustments:
Chiropractic adjustments can benefit everyone. For athletes, the adjustment improves your performance to optimal levels. For fans, adjustments help ease the effects from long periods of standing and immobility on hard seats.

Winning games feels good, but chiropractic care can help you feel your best. No matter if you’re on the roster or in the stands, there is a chiropractic treatment for you. Contact us at our clinic in Clinton, Md. We look forward to serving you.

School’s in session, it’s time to call the chiropractor

Ready or not, school is officially back in session. For many of us, this means packing lunches, helping with homework and meeting with teachers. On your long to-do list, don’t forget to add chiropractic care.

The back-to-school transition can be a stressful time for the body. The physical effects of exposure to germs, heavy backpacks, sitting all day, and high-impact sports can be harmful. Let’s look at some chiropractic tips to help make this a healthy school season.

Keep illness at bay
A classroom is the perfect environment for germs to circulate, but chiropractic treatments can reduce the risk of getting sick. Chiropractic adjustments help boost the immune system by ensuring their nervous system is functioning at 100%.

The right backpack matters
Popular backpacks look cool today, but can lead to back pain tomorrow. Purchase backpacks with wide and padded ergonomic straps. When packing it, put the heaviest items closest to the body and adjust straps so weight is evenly distributed. The backpack weight should not exceed 10-15% of your child’s body weight.

Sit up straight
Sitting at a desk for long hours can put enormous stress on the back. Teach your child proper posture, which means books/tablets held at eye level, feet flat on the floor, and backs against their seat. This reduces the chance of suffering from back, neck, and shoulder pain.

Stretch it out
Gym class, sports practice and physical outdoor play time could lead to injuries if your child’s spine is misaligned. Reduce the chance of new injuries by visiting the chiropractor. Also, reinforce the importance of stretching before any strenuous activity, which helps prevent injury to muscles.

Prioritize Consistent Sleep
Summer throws off a child’s sleep pattern, so encourage your child to stick to a consistent bedtime. Without at least 8 hours of sleep per night, your child’s body and brain functions can suffer.

Top Workplace Ergonomics Tips

As a child, you may have heard someone tell you to “sit up straight, don’t slouch, keep both feet flat on the ground and keep your head up.” At the time, you didn’t realize these instructions would be valuable in workplace. But they are as relevant today as they were back then.

In today’s work environment, many of us are sitting longer at computers and other workstations. The longer we sit, the more prone we are to back and shoulder pain. However, despite the discomfort, very few of us are thinking about proper workplace ergonomics.

Workplace ergonomics can play a key role in helping to treat and prevent pain and injuries. Ergonomics means “fitting a job to a person” and when that is done correctly, it can help lessen muscle fatigue, increase productivity, and reduce the number and severity of work-related injuries.

Some of the common injuries are carpal tunnel syndrome (wrist), low-back pain, tendinitis (an inflammation in arm or leg), bursitis (inflammation in shoulder or elbow), neck pain and headaches.

  1. Fortunately, these are treatable with ergonomic adjustments, such as:
Sitting up straight: Good posture helps prevent injury and pain while improving your mood and reducing stress on your muscles, joints, and spine.
  2. Adjusting chair position: The chair’s height should allow your feet to rest flat on the floor and knees at a 90° angle.
  3. Adjusting your screen: The screen should be adjusted to the proper level so that your eyes are level with or slightly higher than the top of the monitor.
  4. Standing and stretching: To maintain proper workplace ergonomics, take breaks to move and stretch frequently.

If you feel that you’re suffering from musculoskeletal issues or back pain, you may benefit from a chiropractic adjustment. Contact our office today to request your appointment.

No pain, no problem: 5 Reasons athletes need chiropractor care

If you’re an athlete, you probably wait until an injury occurs before visiting a chiropractor. But the truth is that you can, and should, seek chiropractic care before pain strikes. In fact, regular chiropractic visits may even help you prevent injuries from happening in the first place.

According to the American Chiropractic Association, approximately 90% of world-class athletes use chiropractic care to help increase performance and prevent sports-related pain. If it works for top athletes, it makes sense that amateur athletes, gym enthusiasts, afternoon golfers, low-impact athletes, weekend warriors, and child athletes should do the same. It doesn’t matter if you’re just starting a healthy lifestyle journey, playing recreationally, or at the top of your game in your chosen sport—chiropractic care offers incredible benefits to improve overall health and fitness level.

Here are 5 reasons to visit a chiropractor:

    • Faster Workout Recovery – Chiropractic care helps improve your overall body function and speed up your recovery time, making the most of every workout you complete.

    • Increases Range of Motion – Part of athletic performance hinges upon your range of motion. Regular chiropractic treatment can help you increase flexibility through regular adjustments to keep muscles and joints limber.

    • Prepares for Competition or Games – Staying in top-notch shape is key for any competition or games. This means identifying any abnormal or faulty movements that can lead to injury. Chiropractic care keeps you in prime shape and helps you cope with the inherent wear and tear involved in any sport.

    • Helps Promote Faster Healing – Chiropractic adjustments of tendons, muscles, ligaments, and bones help your body align well and promote adequate healing.

    • Improves Asymmetries and Performance – Physically demanding activities may also cause issues like muscle imbalances or spinal misalignment. With regular adjustments, you can improve your posture and keep your spines functioning properly.
